We felt as privileged as ever to compete on the hallowed turf of the Royal Dublin Horse Show over the weekend. It’s undoubtedly one of our favourite shows in the calendar and a true highlight in every Irish riders year. It was fantastic to be back, and to come home with not one, but two top-3 finishes. Finishing on the podium in Dublin is something every Irish rider aspires to and thanks to our wonderful team of staff, owners, horses and sponsors we managed to go double!
Quick off the blocks, and of the back of his success in the King George V Gold Cup – our newest team member ‘Gonzalo’ showed his versatility in the grass arena at Dublin – first of all galloping to a 3rd place finish in the ever-competitive Speed Derby. He continued his great form with a clear round and top-10 placing in the 1,45m Royal Dublin Society Stakes.
The second podium finish came from our super-consistent 11yo mare ‘Germaine W’. Having stepped up to 5* level this season, and showing consistent form, she finally claimed the win she deserved in the highly coveted 1,50m Jump-Off class – the Dublin stakes. Jumping a foot perfect double clear, she sped to victory in a highly competitive class, and took the honours in front of the crowd in the main arena.
Homebred Highland President and 8yo Jicarla T also produced solid rounds to prepare them for the rest of the summer.
