We are back home from a wonderful week at one of our favourite shows in the calendar – CSI5* Royal Windsor. With top-class sport in the Queen’s back garden, some beautiful sunshine, and a string of amazing horses – we had a fantastic week. The 5* start list featured 5 out of the top 10 FEI World Ranked riders, which resulted in thrilling, world-class competition throughout the show.
On Thursday, our team kicked off proceedings with Trevor and CHANKAR MAIL (2010 Gelding – Quidam de Revel x Kannan) in the Puissance. After 5 tense rounds, and edge-of-your-seat watching, the wall climbed to an enormous 2,15m. Chankar Mail gave a phenomenal performance to clear the wall and take the win, alongside Derek Morton and KBS High Quality. An incredible way to start the week!
On Friday TOYGER (2012 Gelding – Catwalk IV x Kannan) continued his consistent form to jump a foot-perfect double clear, taking 6th in the CSI5* 1,45m Manama Stakes.
Toyger followed up his fantastic performance on Friday with another top result on Saturday – this time going one better to finish 5th in the CSI5* 1,55m LR Kingdom of Bahrain Stakes – jumping clear over the fences with just one unlucky time fault in a class with just 3 clear rounds.
Not to be outdone by her stable mate, GERMAINE W (2011 Mare – Eldorado Vd Zeshoek x Armstrong) rose to the occasion – producing a clear round in the 5* 1,50m LR Falcon Stakes to take 8th place.
Sunday was a day of mixed emotions – with the prestigious Rolex CSI5* Grand Prix taking centre stage – HIGHLAND PRESIDENT (2012 gelding – Clinton x Kannan) had started the week well, jumping a super round in the 5* 1,55m Jump-Off class on the Friday.
The Grand Prix track was incredibly demanding – producing just 3 clear rounds. It wasn’t our day in the end – after jumping clear almost all the way, Trevor and homebred Archie suffered a miscommunication at the final fence, resulting in an unfortunate fall. Thankfully they both walked away unharmed, and will be ready to fight another day.
A heartfelt thank you to the show organisers for putting on such a spectacle once again – a true crowning jewel in the British Showjumping Calendar.
