Kicking off the week, Jircarla T jumped her age classes, continuing to give masterclasses every day. Clear the first day, then 2nd in the 7-year-old final and picking up 5th in the speed class, this talented young mare still has yet to touch a pole on this tour. What a horse, now to do one better and bring home the gold!
Highland President started the 3* show with a bang, schooling around the 3* 1.40 to finish in 9th place. The rest of the team saw huge success on Friday, with Dancing Wolf OL 12th in the 3* 1.40 and Forest Ranger OL jumping a clear round in the 3* 1.20. After her 4* Grand Prix debut last week, Germaine W jumped an easy round in the 3* 1.35 to keep her sweet.
Sunday brought the highlight of the week with homebred Highland President entered in the 3* Grand Prix. ‘Archie’ stepped up to the challenge of the 1.50 course with ease, bombing around the first round and making it look like 1.20. In the jump-off – where only 4 pairings competing for the top spot- Archie showed us what he was made of and sped through the timers fast and clear in a time of 37.71 seconds. This impressive round landed the pair in silver position, behind Piergiorgio Bucci and Carpe Diem J&F Champblanc. What a result for our special homebred 9-year-old, owned by Heather Black. We can’t wait to see how else this horse is going to progress during this tour!
Vilamoura is fast on track to becoming Breen Sport Horse’s favourite show – with the results rolling in and jumping in the sun, what more is there to want? A huge thanks to our team for making this all possible and with results like we’ve had the past two weeks, it makes it all worth it.
